Here today...Gone to Maui

Have a great honeymoon!

Maui mapMaui, second largest of the volcanic Hawaiian Islands, is situated between Molokai and Hawaii islands. It comprises 728 sq miles. Maui County, which includes the islands of Lanai and Kahoolawe, has a population of 100,374 (1990 census). The island is noted for its sugarcane and pineapple production, although tourism is also a major source of income.

Maui consists of two dormant volcanoes linked by a 7-mile-wide valley isthmus. The eastern peak, Haleakala, rising to 10,025 ft., has one of the world's largest craters; the area is contained in Haleakala National Park. The smaller, western section of the island, 5,788 ft. high at Puu Kukui, experienced a phenomenal growth in tourism in the 1970s. In western Maui are the island's largest towns: Wailuku, seat of Maui County; Kahalui; and Lahaina.

Kapalua — World class golf courses
Lahaina — Tourist town where most major restaurants/shopping are found
Wailea — Best place to catch a boat to Molokini
Molokini — Outstanding snorkeling
Kahalui — Airport, car rental, etc.
Paia — Mama's Fish House, North Shore windsurfing
Black Sand Beaches — Pretty cool if you've never seen one
Hana — An all-day outing from Lahaina. Drive slow and enjoy the waterfalls along the way
Seven Sacred Pools — There are not seven pools nor are they sacred but there's great hiking, waterfalls and wading pools
Haleakala — At 10,000+ feet, you're on top of the world. Best seen at sunrise

The Bay Course's fifth is Kapalua's signature hole. The hole will vary in length depending on the tee used. While carrying the Pacific is first order of business, the green is well bunkered and offers varying pin placements.
The Village Course climbs higher in the hills then plunges dramatically into deep green valleys using Cook pines and eucalyptus with grand views of mountains and Molokai and Lanai Islands.
The Plantation Course plays host to Kapalua International. Golf Digest ranks this course 4th in America's 75 Best Resort Courses.

Sight-seeing

The Road To Hana Take your time, the road is narrow and winding with a lot of one-lane bridges.

Black Sand Beaches On the road to Hana between Paia and Hana ~ nice stop for a picnic lunch and a stroll

The Seven Sacred Pools Just beyond Hana. Hiking trails, waterfalls and natural wading pools.

Haleakala The top of Maui at 10,000+ feet. The view is awesome especially at sunrise. Dress warm no matter what time of day. Rule of thumb: subtract 30 degrees from the beach temperature to get an approximate mountaintop temperature. Brrrrr...
